Sacramento Valley Chapter California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists
Hello! My name is Julie Jorgenson and I am a hospitality co-chair for SVC-CAMFT as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in private practice.
I am passionate about working with adolescents (ages 14-18), adults, couples, and families in discovering and pursuing the life they desire. My hope is that, through our work together, my clients will uncover their true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. I work with a wide range of emotional as well as behavioral issues and especially enjoy treating codependency as well as mid- to late-adolescent clients (ages 14-22) and couples (married, engaged, dating, and separated).
I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Western Seminary, Sacramento. Throughout my Master’s program, I received training and opportunities to practice the integration of faith with counseling theories – drawing on the incorporation of mindfulness and spiritual disciplines in working with clients. In addition, I bring to my practice a background in cognitive neuroscience and research. For nearly four years, I managed a professional cognitive neuroscience laboratory at the University of California, Davis where the processes underlying human memory are researched by developing and testing models of memory which address recent behavioral, neuropsychological and brain imaging data.
I am married and live with my family in Davis. Whenever I get the chance, I very much enjoy backpacking, whitewater rafting, traveling internationally, SCUBA diving, and taking my dog for long walks.
